Controlled Chaos

hrmxny, aka Chris De Minico, is an 18-year-old producer born and based in Toronto, Ontario. “I’ve always lived here, it’s my favourite place to be, it has a mix of everything you could ever want in the world, but fuck the cold.” He produces Deep House, anything Electronic and groovy. “Music should make you feel some sort of emotion, that’s my main focus in my music.” Growing up listening to mostly Hip-Hop, he had a strong hate for EDM of any kind - until he discovered SBTRKT. ”My opinion on music completely changed.” Along with SBTRKT, his biggest influences include: DisclosureJames Blake, and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. Basically anything based in the UK. “That’s where I want my music to take me!”

He doesn’t like being taught pointless shit - you gain more knowledge through experience, he explains. “I think going to school for music is somewhat stupid, it was never for me, I tried. How can you tell someone a certain way of doing something, especially in such a vast subject and culture, everyone is different.” Spends the majority of his time in his room, producing or listen to music, while getting yelled at by his family to do something better with his life.

Gets his vocals from his friend, Tylor Jay Santos. Few shows coming up. He also has an “alter-ego” called C L U B F L O R A L. Planning on dropping an EP soon under that name.

Have a listen to one of our favourite tracks, ‘nostalgia.’: and here’s C L U B F L O R A L’s SoundCloud page:

If you are depressed you are living in the past.
If you are anxious you are living in the future.
If you are at peace you are living in the present.

Are you as hot as the kiss that I have lost
You’re full of a love that has passed
What my heart wants to cancel

The sun warmed us every day
What a gorgeous sunsets painted
Now only burns with fury

Will come back another winter
They will fall a thousand petals of roses
The snow will cover all things
And maybe a little ‘peace will return

That gave her scent to every flower
The ‘summer that created our love
To me then die of grief

-Bruno Martino

It’s the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen. — Muhammad Ali

Phones are the worst.
Glass kind of made me hate my phone — or any phone. It made me realize how much they have captured our attention. Phones separate us from our lives in all sorts of ways. Here we are together, looking at little screens, interacting (at best) with people who aren’t here. Looking at our hands instead of each other. Documenting instead of experiencing.
